❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Do I need to submit my physical passport for a Japan Visa?
A: Yes. Even though Japan has introduced an e-visa system for some categories, most tourist applications in the Mumbai Jurisdiction still require the physical submission of your passport to the Consulate for verification and stamping. Your passport will be returned to you safely once the process is complete.
Q: What is the "Mumbai Jurisdiction" and do I fall under it?
A: The Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai processes visas for residents of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, and Daman & Diu. As Bhavnagar’s only RCIC-certified firm, we specialize in ensuring your documents meet the specific standards of this consulate.
Q: What is the minimum bank balance required for a Japan Visa?
A: Recommended ₹2,00,000+ per person.
While there is no "official" minimum, the Consulate looks for financial stability. For a 10–15 day trip, a closing balance of ₹2 Lakhs or more in a 6-month updated statement is considered a strong profile. If you are traveling as a family, the main applicant’s account should reflect a proportionately higher balance.
Q: Can I apply for a Japan Visa if I am a freelancer or unemployed?
A: Yes.
If you are a freelancer, you can provide your GST registration or professional contracts. If you are unemployed or a student, you can be sponsored by a family member (parent/spouse). In this case, we will help you prepare an Affidavit of Sponsorship along with the sponsor’s financial documents.
Q: Why is the "Schedule of Stay" so important?
A: It is the most common reason for rejection.
Japan requires a day-by-day breakdown of your activities. Vague descriptions like "Sightseeing" are often rejected. The Visa Tales drafts a professional, detailed itinerary for you that matches your hotel bookings and flight dates exactly.
Q: How early should I apply for my Japan Visa?
A: Ideally 30–45 days before travel.
Standard processing takes 13–15 working days. However, during peak Vacation Seasons (March-April for Cherry Blossoms and October-November for Autumn colors), the Consulate faces high volumes, and delays of 15+ working days are common.
Q: What if my Japan Visa is rejected?
A: You must wait 6 months.
According to official rules, if a Japan visa is rejected, you cannot re-apply for the same purpose for 6 months unless there are significant changes in your circumstances or a humanitarian emergency. This is why we recommend getting your documents verified by our experts the first time.
