❓ Verified Official FAQs
Answers based on strict ICA & High Commission guidelines.
Q: Do I need to submit my physical passport for an E-Visa?
A: Yes. Although the final visa is a digital PDF (E-Visa), the Authorized Agent requires your original passport to verify your travel history and authenticity before submitting the application to the High Commission. It will be returned to you once the application is logged.
Q: What is the "Matte Finish" photo rule?
A: This is critical. Singapore rejects photos with any "glossy" or reflective surface.
- Requirement: 35mm x 45mm, White Background, Matte (Non-Reflective) Finish.
- Advice: Explicitly tell your photographer: "I need a Matte finish for a Singapore Visa."
Q: Can I extend my stay once I am in Singapore?
A: It is difficult, but possible. You typically receive a 30-day Short Term Visit Pass (STVP) upon entry. If you need to stay longer (e.g., for a medical emergency), you must apply online via the ICA e-Service at least 7 days before your pass expires.
- Note: Extensions are discretionary and usually require a local Singaporean sponsor/PR.
Q: I have a layover in Singapore. Do I need a visa?
A: It depends on your airline.
- No Visa Needed: If you have a valid visa for the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, or Schengen, you may be eligible for the 96-Hour Visa Free Transit Facility (VFTF).
- Visa Needed: If you are flying budget airlines (like Indigo to Scoot) where you must collect bags and re-check in, you must have a valid visa to clear immigration.
Q: How long does the visa processing take?
A: 13 to 15 Working Days. This is the standard timeline for Indian nationals. However, during peak holidays (May/June and December), it can take up to 18-20 days. We strictly advise applying 30-35 days before your travel date to be safe.
