Passport office in Vadodara

You go to the Passport Seva Kendra at Aditviya Complex, Ground Floor, behind Arpan Complex on Delux Cross Road, opposite Era School in Nizampura. It is the only passport counter in Vadodara district and it takes both fresh applications and renewals. You cannot walk in. The appointment is booked online at passportindia.gov.in, the fee is paid before the slot is confirmed, and the centre turns away anyone without a booking however far they have come. Slots for this region are released at 2:00 PM, which is worth knowing because the calendar looks empty for most of the day and then is not.

There is no Regional Passport Office in Vadodara. Gujarat has two, in Ahmedabad and Surat, and Vadodara falls under Ahmedabad. That matters less than it sounds, because an ordinary applicant has no reason to go to either. Passport Seva does not accept applications at a Regional Passport Office at all: they are the back office that prints, dispatches and decides, and they take the escalations a Seva Kendra sends up. If your application is stuck rather than unmade, RPO Ahmedabad does see people about it, by appointment on any working day between 10:00 and 15:00 or as a walk-in on working Wednesdays between 10:00 and 13:00. Appointment slots for centres under the Ahmedabad regional office are released at 2:00 PM, which includes the Vadodara Passport Seva Kendra. Surat opens its region an hour earlier at 1:00 PM, so the two are not the same and a habit picked up from a friend in Surat will have you looking at the wrong hour. Payment now comes before the booking rather than after it, so have the card ready before the release rather than during it. If nothing appears, a neighbouring district is usually easier than the city, and your file is not tied to the counter you choose until you attend.

You can. A police clearance certificate is applied for the same way as a passport, online through Passport Seva, and the appointment is at the same Nizampura counter. It costs ₹750 and there is no Tatkaal option on it, so nothing about paying more makes it faster. The one thing to check before you book is that the name, parents’ names, date of birth and place of birth on the PCC form match the passport exactly. Where they do not, Passport Seva makes you reissue the passport first and only then processes the certificate, which turns a short errand into a long one. A change of address or adding a spouse’s name after marriage is the exception and does not need the passport reissued.
