Singapore visitor visa from India

Ordinary Indian passport holders need a visa to enter Singapore, and there is no visa on arrival whatever the ease of the flight might suggest. Diplomatic, official and service passport holders are exempt, which covers very few of the people asking. The unusual part of this route is not the requirement but the filing, and it is the part worth knowing before you start. The application is made on Form 14A and cannot be submitted by you directly: the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority accepts it from an authorised visa agent, from one of its strategic partners, or from a local contact in Singapore applying through SingPass or CorpPass. So even a completely straightforward tourist application has to go through somebody else. That is why the question people really want answered on this route is not whether they need a visa but who is allowed to lodge it for them.

The government processing fee is S$30, about ₹2,250, paid online by Visa or Mastercard and not refunded whether the visa is issued or refused. Through us it is ₹7,500 all-inclusive, which covers that fee, the preparation of Form 14A and filing through an authorised route, with courier of your passport charged separately at cost. Be careful with quotes that present a much larger figure as the government fee, because S$30 is what the authority charges and everything above it is somebody's service charge whether or not it is described as one. That is worth checking on this route in particular, since the application cannot be filed directly and the fee is therefore always bundled into somebody else's price. Ask any agent to separate the two numbers. A quote that will not is telling you something.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority states that applications are processed within three working days, excluding the day of submission, and that some applications take longer. In practice peak periods around Diwali, Christmas and the summer holidays stretch it, so the three days is a normal week rather than a guarantee for every week. Because the official window is so short, the thing that delays most Singapore applications is not the authority at all. It is an incomplete document set going in, which produces a query or a rejection and restarts a process that would otherwise have finished before the week was out. The preparation takes longer than the decision on this route, which is unusual and worth planning around. Assemble everything first, check it, and then file, rather than lodging early with a gap you intend to fill later.

The length of stay is decided by an immigration officer at the checkpoint when you arrive, not by the visa itself, and thirty days is common for a tourist. The visa authorises you to travel to Singapore and request entry. The officer grants the stay and endorses it, and can grant less than you expected if something about the trip does not add up at the counter. So plan around the stay you expect rather than the visa's validity, and carry the return ticket and accommodation evidence that supports the length you are asking for, because that is the material the officer is deciding on. The endorsement you receive is the date that governs your stay from then on. Check it before you leave the arrival hall rather than assuming, since a misread date becomes an overstay without anyone intending one.

It is a digital arrival and health declaration that every traveller entering Singapore must submit, including people who need no visa at all. There is no paper version any more, and it is submitted within the three days before you arrive rather than earlier, so it is a task for the week of the trip and not something to tick off a month out. It is free on the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority website. That last point is worth stating plainly, because a number of commercial sites charge a fee to file the same form for you and several of them rank above the official one in search results. You are paying for a form you can complete in five minutes. Submit it yourself, keep the acknowledgement on your phone, and do not confuse it with the visa, which is a separate application entirely.

An individual applicant sitting in India cannot lodge their own application, however straightforward the trip is. This is unusual among the countries on this site, where the normal position is that you can always do it yourself and may choose not to. Here the choice does not exist. It is worth being clear that this is a rule of the authority rather than a practice agents have invented to create work, because the two are easy to confuse and the assumption is a reasonable one.
