It depends on what other visas you already hold. If you have a valid United States, United Kingdom, Ireland or Schengen visa, you can use Turkey's online e-Visa, which takes about an hour and needs nothing from you beyond the existing visa and a payment. If you do not hold one of those, you need the sticker visa: a physical visa the Turkish consulate affixes to your passport through VFS Global, which takes about 15 to 18 working days and a full document set. The gap between an hour and three weeks is the reason this is the first question rather than a detail. Telling you which route you actually qualify for is the first thing we do, because applying for the wrong one wastes weeks you cannot get back and usually the fee with them. The answer turns on the visa in your passport, not on the trip you are planning.

The consulate is decided by where your passport was issued, not by where you currently live. If your passport was issued in a state served by a different consulate from the one covering your present address, that consulate can reject the file unless you prove you genuinely reside within its jurisdiction, typically with a notarised rental agreement on stamp paper. This catches out people who moved states after getting their passport, which describes a great many working Indians and almost nobody expects it to matter. It is also the kind of problem that surfaces late, after the documents are assembled and the appointment is booked, when the fix takes a fortnight nobody has budgeted. So we check jurisdiction before anything else, against the passport rather than the address on your electricity bill. If the two point at different consulates, we sort out the residence proof first and build the rest of the file around it.

The Turkish consulate treats a bank statement older than a week as expired, because it wants evidence that the funds are present now rather than a fortnight ago. Two things follow from that. The statement cannot be prepared far in advance, so it is the last document assembled rather than the first, and it must be wet-ink stamped by the bank rather than printed at home from net banking. Both are ordinary requests at a branch and both take a day or two to arrange, which is exactly as long as you have. We time the statement to the submission date so it is fresh when the consulate reads it, and we work backwards from the appointment rather than forwards from when the file felt ready. A stale statement is one of the easiest refusals to avoid and one of the most common.

A balance that appears suddenly just before you apply reads as staged for the visa, and that reading is hard to argue with once the statement is in front of an officer. The consulate is looking for funds that are genuinely and consistently yours, held above the minimum it expects to see across the whole period the statement covers, rather than a number that is correct on one day. The fix is preparation rather than explanation. We build the financial evidence over the weeks before submission and account for any large deposit that does appear, with the document that shows where it came from, so the statement tells the honest version of your finances instead of raising a question the officer then has to resolve against you. A refusal on funds is rarely about the amount.
